MEET ONE OF THE CO-DIRECTORS OF CHABAD MILE END

I’m Bruchy Winterfeld, one of the proud co-directors of Chabad Mile End.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

We were involved in one of the local Chassidic organizations, where we kept meeting many unaffiliated Jews who thought they were the only non-Chassidic Jews living in the area. To cater to their needs and unite everyone, Chabad Mile End opened its doors. 

We started from modest beginnings with a High Holiday Minyan and Sukkot party. As the community grew, we expanded our services, and we are now looking for ways to grow, share and connect at a greater level.

Therefore, when people come into the Chabad house and find like-minded Jews, it gives me the greatest satisfaction. There is nothing that makes me happier than someone saying, “I thought there were no Jews in the neighborhood like me; I’m so glad I found Chabad.” 

Our non-profit organization was inspired by the Rebbe’s message of loving every fellow Jew. Therefore, every Jew is welcome, regardless of their background, affiliation, or level of observance. 

Moving forward, we are excited about the new community center that G-d willing will be opening later this spring. It will help to expand our social events, learning classes, as well as youth programming. 

When I’m not organizing events, my hobbies include reading, writing, and finding creative solutions to everyday situations. 

I also feel very strongly that education is the key to Jewish connectivity. The more we learn about the treasure we possess, the more we can appreciate how lucky we are to be G-d’s children.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I work.
